Local Information
White House Barn is set in Aislaby, a peaceful village location just 5 minutes away from the historic market town of Yarm. The Teesdale Way and River Tees are on the doorstep. It is a perfect location to explore the North York Moors or Yorkshire Dales national parks, and cities such as York, Durham and Newcastle are within an hours drive. Many of our guests are keen walkers and we provide a range of laminated walking routes which you can borrow for the day. We are happy to advise further on walking or cycling routes in the North York Moors or the Yorkshire Dales.

Places to visit
Yarm
Just 5 minutes away by car from White House Barn, or 25 minutes walk via the Teesdale way riverside path. Yarm is a picturesque, Georgian market town, known for its wide, cobbled High Street filled with independent shops, boutiques, and quality cafes and restaurants, set on the River Tees. Beautiful riverside walks, old-world charm blended with modern amenities and a popular spot for dining, shopping, and weekends away

North York Moors
Stunning scenery, timeless towns and villages, and fantastic walks. The picture above shows one of the highest hills on the North York Moors, and best-known local landmarks - Roseberry Topping. A well marked walking trail leads to the summit and offers amazing views and an opportunity to continue along the Cleveland Way to Captain Cooks Monument.

Tees Barrage
A top place to visit in the North East for outdoor adventure or a simple stroll round the barrage. Located on the River Tees between Stockton and Middlesbrough, offering world-class watersports facilities and activities.
You will also find the UK’s largest climbing adventure course — Air Trail. Swinging bridges, balancing beams and cargo nets soaring above the River Tees

National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool
Recreation of an 18th Century sea port, bringing to life the time of Nelson, Napoloeon and the Battle of Trafalgar. Explore the recreated Georgian Quayside where you can see and hear the cannon and muskets being fired, visit the Chandler’s shop, journey through the Fighting Ships exhibit and learn something new in the informative gallery spaces.
