About White House Barn
Location
White House Barn is located in the pretty hamlet of Aislaby situated on the upper banks of the River Tees. Aislaby is less than 1.5 miles from the centre of Yarm with it’s traditional cobbled Georgian high street, where guests can explore a wide range of traditional independent retailers and a diverse selection of bars, cafes and restaurants.
Aislaby village was listed in the Domesday Book of 108, as “Asulue(s)bi”, of Viking origin and meaning “Aslak’s farm”.
We are located just 10 miles / 20 minutes from the North York Moors National Park, and 24 miles / 40 minutes from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. We can advise on places to visit and have provided laminated copies of some of our favourite walking routes in the barn for you to use.
About Us
Your hosts are Debby & David Bee. We originate from the North East and moved to White House in 2015. We have enjoyed welcoming guests to White House Barn since 2018.
We enjoy walks out, cycling, travelling, motorsports and good food & wine!

We live in the adjacent property (White House) but respect our guests privacy so will not disturb you during your stay, however, if you have any questions or need advice, please message us or knock at our house and we will be happy to help.
History
Parts of our property, White House, date from c.1700. Original timber beams are still in place in the downstairs rooms at the front of the property.
The property was in a significant state of disrepair when we bought it in 2015 and we spent three years renovating and modernising the property and gardens.
White House Barn was converted in 2018 from the former hay barn and coal store. We had to rebuild most parts as the original building had no foundations, and replace the original oak beams which were rotten and woodworm-damaged; the new oak roof structure visible today is an exact replica of what was previously in place.
Facilities
The barn is a cosy, open plan space providing comfortable accommodation for those looking for a ‘home from home’; one bedroom with double bed; we do not accommodate children or pets.
The barn is fully equipped throughout:
- kitchen with oven, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, and Nespresso machine
- coffee pods, tea, coffee, sugar, and fresh milk are all provided
- Log Burner, with unlimited firewood
- TV with Netflix; Bluetooth speaker and DAB radio, and free WiFi.
The barn is fully self contained with its own entrance and terrace area. Off-street secure parking space is available.

Our booking policies:
- Reservations must be for a minimum of 2 nights
- Check-in time is from 14:00 on day of arrival; we can accommodate late-night check-in if required. Check-out time is no later than 11:00 on day of departure
- We operate a fully flexible cancellation policy and apply no charges for cancellations made at least 24 hours before check-in time
- We normally accept reservations up to 12 months in advance
